Tractors
Another
very important piece of equipment used at freight terminals
for container, chassis and trailer handling is the yard tractor
or hostling tractor. Yard tractors are diesel powered, rubber
tired units which feature a hydraulic fifth wheel. They may
have a single or tandem rear wheel and are rated up to 70,000
capacity. Yard tractors offer great flexibility with the ability
to quickly move about the intermodal facility.
