Specifications:
The 17,500 gallon tank car, DOT designation 111A100W, equipped with exterior heating coils and insulation, are cars that are designed for use primarily in corn syrup or molasses service. The car meets all the requirements for a DOT 111A100W tank car, with the additional feature of having a bottom slope of approximately 1/4" per foot to protect the syrup from extreme temperatures. There are exterior heating coils to improve unloading. Loading is through a single hatch cover on top of the car. Unloading is through the bottom outlet, which is also connected to the heating coils.
